As the Law Society are due to embark on a significant period of change, they are looking to recruit a Head of People Planning and Programme delivery. The purpose of this role will be to drive the design and planning of the people programme to ensure strategy delivery, commissioning and retain oversight on delivery, and develop strong stakeholder relationships through communication and engagement.

Detailed Job Description

  • Establish, build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders (ELT, SMT and their direct reports) across all areas of the business
  • Support stakeholders in identifying key areas for people activity and action to drive delivery of business plans, and ensuring stakeholders take account of their management responsibilities
  • Commission HR colleagues to develop and deliver key activities for stakeholders, and alert to opportunities from horizon scanning
  • Work with HR colleagues and stakeholders to define people plan/programme objectives, scope and requirements
  • Ensure HR resource availability in liaison with the HR team when developing recommended people action plans/programme
  • Work across both stakeholder base and the HR team (TLS and SS) to devise and implement people action plans (based on MI evidence) for their areas of responsibility ensuring agreement on resourceand timescales with all parties
  • Support both stakeholder base and HR team to drive business performance through the delivery of people action plans
  • Escalate and resolve areas of concern as raised by stakeholders and/or HR team
  • Provide reports (in liaison with clients and HR team) to the governance structure tracking progress to plan, performance based on MI and future milestones
  • Present to the governance structure as necessary in conjunction with the Director of People and their stakeholders
  • Deputise for the Director of People as required
  • Support the continuous review of people activity to business plan in liaison with HR team and stakeholders using all available data to assess effectiveness and demonstrate delivery
  • Proactively coach stakeholder teams (both individually and teams) to drive business performance and to ensure HR is partnered with most effectively
  • Shape and manage the HR Strategic Risk Register
  • Provide oversight on both the HR team and central budget to ensure effective forecasting and future budgeting

Candidate's Profile


  • Evidence of designing and implementing comprehensive people plans/programmes in line with business priorities
  • Extensive programme and/or change experience leading cross-functional projects
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of HR deliverables and how to implement them to address business issues
  • Proven extensive experience as a strategic/senior HR Business Partner and/or worked in a consultancy capacity
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, building rapport and effective relationships with key stakeholders
  • Evidence of building credibility at senior levels within organisations
  • Capable of using knowledge, communication and relationship skills to positively influence key business decisions at a senior level
  • Ability to provide creative and commercial solutions to enhance business performance, and strong budget management experience
  • Strong facilitation skills at individual and team levels
  • Proven project management experience and interpretation of MI


  • Recognised project management qualification
  • Previous client experience and/or equivalent
  • Coaching at an individual and team level
  • M/FCIPD qualifications or equivalent

What's on offer

£60,000 - £65,000 plus package.
